Irrespective of politics and political invective we as a country have an expectation elected officials will be totally committed to troops sent into battle. That commitment has been ignored by government. Our troops are driving around Afghanistan exposed to mines and suicide bombers as they travel in “a light armored vehicle” such as that which took six of our best.
Today, the infuriating spins starts: we are told the enemy used a larger than usual bomb. Who’d have thought?
While our political leader’s languor safe at home, buying up votes with billions, Canadian kids are in the gravest of danger not at the enemies hand but at the hand of those supposedly in charge of providing the necessities for Canada’s military to carry out a job. Big fat airplanes have done nothing for the troops on the ground so the question of how stupid can the Harper government be is revealed through the ultimate in costs. It is one thing to be incompetent at the very job one blusters about but to be blind to, to turn ones back on the reality of the war they committed our kids to is gross negligence even to a level of criminal responsibility. This is on the heads of the very people whose most used line is, “it’s the other guys fault”. Get off your fat ass and get the job done properly, Steve.

I know ,that decade of liberal neglect is now killing our soldiers. If only Stevie had listened to Jean,Paul & Stephane we would not be in this mess, right?
Greyburr,
Ah, I see you're from the, "it's the other guys fault" school of Conservative thought just like Stevie. And, because the two of you are so ready to flip off responsibility on the other guy that justifies Conservatives committing the same crime -the short list - buying 4 billion dollars of untendered planes, buying votes hither thither and goof-ball tax cuts in a time of war rather than properly armoring our troops.
With your introspective head-up-the-ass position do you think Stevie has screwed up and can't find the money, or is he just stupid? Perhaps he's simply in need of some front line time to "get a feel for it", "hands on", "walk a mile in my boots", as they say. He is, after all, that down to earth, guy, right?
